IVAN BAYROSS

I've fallen passionately in love twice till date,  I'm really one of the lucky ones.

The second time was when I discovered computers. This was what propelled me into doing my M.Tech with a specialization in DBMS from Manchester U.K.

Following my dreams I went on to build a career in commercial application development using DBMS, RDBMS and O-RDBMS.

Today, after multiple man years of using different types of DBMS for commercial application development, I believe I am a domain specialist.

My desire to share the knowledge I acquired over all these years and perhaps partially to keep it available and alive made me author and publish more than 65 books, most of them tightly focused on commercial application development using software tools.

Currently I'm Chairman and M. D. of a software development house in Mumbai, India.

I'm very comfortable working in:

  • Oracle 9iAS
  • Oracle 10g
  • Developer 2000
  • PHP 4.X and 5.X
  • L.A.M.P - An amazing development environment
  • The .NET 2.0 Framework
  • VB .NET and VB.NET 2005
  • Crafting ASP .NET applications
  • Java - JDK 2.0
  • Systems Analysis & Design and it's Validation
  • Project Management
  • User and Technical
    Documentation

Each year I spend some of my time as visiting faculty teaching postgraduate students in both management and engineering colleges. I also make very sure that I spend some time in-house, mentoring technical interns, mostly MCA's, taken in from the Engineering colleges in and around Mumbai.

These days, this is what makes me happiest.  Oh! I have not stopped writing.

COMPANY INFORMATION

Today I'm closely associated with several companies. Some as a senior consultant, some as a business partner, some which I own.

Doss Software Solutions is a private limited company, which has been in existence since 1989. DSS is a products driven company which has now ventured in high end business consulting and tailormade commercial application development.

The company is owned and run by Mr. H.L. Ramdoss a close and trusted friend. I am a full fledged business partner in Doss Software Solutions

Silicon Chip Technologies is a software development house at Mumbai, India. This is a closely held private limited company, which was started in December 1986. SCT is wholly owned by my wife and myself.

The core focus domain of these companies is building two tier to multi tier, Client Server based, commercial applications.

Our database skill set, is bound to Oracle 8i, Oracle 9iAS and Oracle 10G.

In the Linux space the RDBMS we constantly use is MySQL and occasionally Postgres

Client side forms are created using a number of front end tools such as Oracle Developer 2000, Visual Basic, HTML, DHTML & JavaScript bound to CSS.

When crafting Internet based, multi tier, commercial applications, the company's skill sets includes PHP, PERL, ASP, Java (JDK 2.0), ASP .NET, VB .NET 2005.

In the Internet space the company enjoys working with, and is a strong advocate of, the use of the Open source O/S and the multitude of excellent programming environments and IDE's which belong to the Open source domain.

Honestly, today I feel both humbled and privileged when I watch the brilliant young programmers, in both the companies that I'm closely involved with crafting well documented, maintainable, scaleable commercial applications for our clients.
